All the orthopedic surgeries (congenital hip dislocation, congenital knock-foot
etc.), all traumas (waist and extremity fractures and dislocations) surgeries, hand surgeries are
conducted by the specialists in the relevant subjects in our hospital. Foreign matter  removal operations
can also be easily conducted in our hospital.

What is arthroscopy?

It is a surgical procedure to be done by monitoring inside of the joint with an optic device
and reflecting it to the screen while diagnosis and treating the diseases related to joints.
Situations in which arthroscopy method is applied;

  In treatment of meniscus ruptures
In removing early period joint calcification
In removing free bones and cartilage parts inside the joint
In treating anterior  and posterior cruciate ligaments’ injuries
In the cases of infection or edema on the knees
In treating the kneecap bone problems
In treatment of joint cartilage damages
  In treatment of intraarticular fractures
meniscus ruptures and cartilage lesions are treated frequently with  the arthroscopic methods which is
applied on the knee joint the most.

What is Meniscus and how is it Treated?

Meniscus, the cushions in the shape of a half moon in the cartilage structure which is between the joint surfaces of thighbone and tibia inside the
knee. Meniscuses may be torn with the effect of powers in many directions.
Meniscus rupture parts are removed and cleaned for the progressive damage inside the
knee to be prevented. Ruptures on the outer part of the meniscus are treated by sutures.
Treatment with arthroscopy method results in a very short time hence time of hospital stay gets shorter and the patient is discharged on the very same day or the next day. The patient returns to his daily activities quickly.

How is arthroscopy surgery conducted?

Arthroscopy surgeries are also called as closed surgeries. Since the areas that cannot be viewed during open surgery
can be viewed with arthroscopy, a more complete examination can be done.
Today, arthroscopy is applied for knee joints the most Arthroscopy surgery
can be done only by sedating the leg to conduct it on (local) but also can be done by sedating below the waist
(spinal anesthesia) or with general anesthesia by making the patient sleep completely. Surgery period takes
some time between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the severity of the problem with a patient's knee To motif inside the joint ,2 or 3  cuts of
0.5 cm are opened and optical system of arthroscopy is inserted through the joint
..
Advantages of Arthroscopy Surgery

Sutures are not used since the surgery is done with small cuts.
The patient’s time of stay in the hospital is very short.
The possibility of movement restriction development in the joints after the surgery is lower.
The time for the patient to return to work is very short when compared to other surgeries. While the time for the patient to return to work can be 1 or 2 months after the meniscus rupture surgery done on him
with classical method
the patient can return to work in 1 week if the surgery is conducted with arthroscopic method.
While the patient uses crutches for two weeks after a surgery that is conducted with classical method
the patient can stand on his feet right after the arthroscopy surgery and he does not use
crutches.
Since the cut location is very small no problem occurs in the recovery of wounds, possibility of inflammation after the surgery
is quite low
